Pastels
I began painting with pastels in 2021, mostly out of a desire to draw - to create visuals with the hand and not just the camera. I've derived some of the images from photos and some from my imagination. I don't feel I've found "my thing" with pastels just yet, as I am still trying out lots of different techniques and materials. It's really fun to take on a new medium, going through that process of struggling to learn, making clumsy early efforts, having a few "eureka" moments, despairing over failed attempts, and ultimately having some surprising successes. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that I've sold a few paintings at my local artist's coop.
